New Spanish Version of VA Health Care Benefit Application

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has recently introduced a Spanish version of the application for health care benefits. With this application the VA can better cater to the Spanish-speaking population of veterans.

VA Secretary Robert Wilkie stated, “Our Veteran population is made up of an increasingly diverse group of people.” He continued, “Our nation appreciates the service and sacrifice of all Veterans, including Hispanic and Latino Veterans. And it’s our duty to expand the ways we communicate with all Veterans, so they’re properly informed about the benefits they’ve earned.”

The National Center for Veterans Analysis and Statistics concluded that as of September 2017, there was nearly 1.5 million living veterans who identify as being Hispanic or Latino. Only half a million of these veterans are currently enrolled in the VA health care system. This application release is set to increase enrollment while simplifying the process.

Veterans interested in applying for health care benefits can find the Spanish version of the application online here, or at your local VA office.
